Mechanical & Electrical Inventions

Mechanical and electrical innovations propelled the First and Second Industrial Revolutions, transforming manufacturing, transportation, and global communications. James Watt patented his separate condenser steam engine in 1769, dramatically improving thermal efficiency and driving industrial mechanization. In telecommunications, Samuel Morse co-developed the electrical telegraph and Morse code in the 1830s, followed by Alexander Graham Bell's patent for the telephone in 1876. Thomas Edison developed the practical commercial incandescent light bulb in 1879, while Nikola Tesla pioneered alternating current (AC) polyphase electrical distribution systems and induction motors, which won the 'War of the Currents' and established modern high-voltage power transmission grids worldwide.
