Telecommunications, 5G & Next-Gen Networks

Mobile telecommunications have evolved across generations from 1G analog voice to 5G New Radio (NR), which delivers ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and massive machine-type communications (mMTC) across sub-6 GHz and millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum. Standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), 5G networks utilize massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) antennas and network slicing. India launched commercial 5G services in October 2022 and unveiled the 'Bharat 6G Vision' document to participate actively in global 6G standardization under the ITU-R IMT-2030 framework. Fiber-to-the-home networks augment terrestrial wireless connectivity.
