ICC Cricket World Cups & ICC Tournaments

The International Cricket Council (ICC) inaugurated the Men's Cricket World Cup in England in 1975, where the West Indies defeated Australia in the inaugural 60-over final at Lord's. The tournament transitioned to a 50-over format in 1987 in the Indian subcontinent, introducing white clothing and red balls before adopting colored kits and white balls in 1992. Australia leads the historical roll with six titles (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2023), while India won titles under Kapil Dev in 1983 and MS Dhoni in 2011. The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, which predates the men's event with its 1973 debut, is dominated by Australia with seven championships. The shorter ICC T20 World Cup, introduced in South Africa in 2007, expanded global competitive parity alongside the ICC World Test Championship inaugurated in 2019.
